USM PROJECT COORDINATION OFFICE

The USM Project Coordination Office was established under the direction of USM CIO, Don Spicer, to provide a vehicle to facilitate interaction among the USM institutions.  Its primary responsibility is to facilitate communication and cooperation on IT related projects that involve multiple institutions within the System.  The office is currently involved most directly in the PeopleSoft implementation projects occurring on eleven USM sites, providing coordination activities and project management support for the institutions.  The office staff is available to supplement institutional resources with consulting support and facilitation of project tasks.  In addition, the staff works actively on other projects including On-Line Learning initiatives and with a variety of inter institutional standing committees.

The office currently has two full time staff.  The Director, Stan Jakubik, has been involved in higher education for over thirty years with twenty plus years of experience within the USM system, coming to the USM Office from a background as a Registrar, Director of Academic Advisement, and Assistant Provost at UMBC.  He most recently headed the USM Student Information System Project before becoming Director of Project Coordination.  The second member of the staff, Tamara Petronka, Quality Assurance Manager, joined the USM with seventeen years of higher education  experience including roles as Registrar at Elmira College and as Associate Registrar at Binghamton University.  She was a principal player in the Oracle Student System Development (Project Pegasus) at Binghamton.

The office is located at UMBC in the UMBC Technology Center.
